Day 2- Respect

This Friday, my husband and I will celebrate our 23 wedding anniversary.
Yesterday, someone asked me what was our secret to a long and happy marriage.

The words were out of my mouth before I could think about it.

I said, ‘Respect.’

In any relationship, I believe this is of the utmost importance. If you argue, disagree or even joke around, (all teasing has a little bit of truth to it), then do it respectfully.

Do not debase yourself or your spouse with name calling or cheap shots.

That is what a healthy relationship entails.

By that same token, You need to have enough of this for yourself in order to offer it up to others.

So, today, I will re-examine my life and respect myself.

I will respect the decisions I have made.

I will respect my boundaries.

I will respect the person I have become.

It has been a long journey to this point and each step has made me who I am.

It is said that Respect is earned- not given.

Today, I can stand and say,
‘I’ve earned it, Baby, I’ve earned it.’

How about you?
